Summary: The actual Grandma comes over complaining about how the dad's never around for his children and how's he's had multiple maids look over them. The children are spying on them and overhear their conversation. Their dad asks them if they're unhappy with his absence and they say no just to make him feel better.
Tom finds an advertisement in the newspaper for an electronic data processing machine which robot loves like a mother. The dad examines it and takes the children to the company to find out more. A man shows them how they can choose how she looks and Tom, Karen, and Anne choose her physical features like; ears, eyes, height, arm, hair color, hair length and voice. But when Anne realizes Tom and Karen are making the robot to look just like their mother, she bolts because she hates her mother for "leaving" and the dad runs after her. Nevertheless, Tom and Karen make the robot look like their mother in Anne's absence. They call her grandma and she cooks, cleans, teaches, and loves. Everybody is glad grandma is in their lives, except of course, Anne. Grandma confronts Anne to find out why she doesn't like her so much. Anne says it's because she looks just like her mom who left without warning or dying, after promising she loved her. In an attempt to get away from grandma, Anne runs into the road where a truck is approaching. Grandma pushes Anna out of the way and collapses. She ends up waking up and Anne is glad she isn't dead. Grandma promises never to leave or die and Anne starts warming up to her. Grandma stays with them until Tom, Karen and Anne are mature and ready to go to college. She returns to the company which created her. My thoughts: I thought that this was a very exciting episode of Twilight Zone and it was nice to see how Anne's hostility reduced significantly after the near death experience. I believe that this is a good text of science fiction because of the fact that the grandma was a robot, who could love. It would be amazing if that was a real thing because there are so many orphans, strays and foster children who are lacking love. This would make a lot of sad children really happy!
